SARAKI, YAKUBU WINS NATIONAL ASSEMBLY LEADERSHIP POLLS

Sen Bukola Saraki Former governor of kwara state, currently a  senator at national assembly, has emerged as the 8th president of the house of senate .
Saraki defeated his opponent Sen Ahmed Lawan, who were both from the same All Progressives Congress, APC.

Meanwhile Hon Yakubu Dogara emerges as the 8th speaker of the lower house at the national assembly. Yakubu who has a total vote of 182, defeated Hon Femi Gbajabiamila who has 174 votes. The two are both from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Saraki has been sworn in by the clerk of the house of Senate, while Yakubu has also been sworn in by the clerk of the house of representative.

FAYOSE HOLDS THANKSGIVING SERVICE WITH 26 E.K.H.A MEMBERS

Today 7th of june, Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose holds a Thanksgiving service for the newly elected  Ekiti State House of Assembly members at the Deeper Life Campground, Ajebamidele, Ado Ekiti. Among those that were present at the thanksgiving service were The governor and his wife Mrs feyisetan, the Deputy governor Mr Kolapo Eleka and his wife Janet, the newly elected speaker Mr Kola Oluwawole, his wife and the other 25 house of assembly members, Royal fathers and other dignitaries.

The governor in his word said "I have a destiny and my enemies will not stop fighting until I achieve my destiny. When they lose one battle, they will start another one".

He also Read a bible verse, from the book of  Act 5: 39 --- "But if it is from God, you will not be able to
stop these men; you will only find
yourselves fighting against God."

The newly elected 5th Ekiti House of Assembly Members, were inaugurated on the 5th of June 2015, at the EKHA complex behind the state secretariat in the state capital Ado Ekiti.

EX PRESIDENT JONATHAN SPOTTED IN LONDON

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was spotted in London.
A Nigerian named Chinedu Ozordi bumped into the former President at the Heathrow Airport in London. Chinedu who took a photo with him posted it on Twitter with caption,

"Goodluck goes to London Without the bowler hat".

OMAWUMI SEEKS FORGIVENESS FROM CHILDHOOD FRIENDS

Nigeria singer Mgbele Omawumi was given birth into the family of Chief Dr. Frank and Mrs. Aya Megbele on 13 April 1982. Omawumi attended Nana Primary School, she furthered her education at the College of Education Demonstration Secondary School.
She graduated in 2005 from the faculty of Law at the Ambrose Alli University. Omawumi, began her career in music, shortly after she was voted 1st in the runner up of the Idols West Africa.

FUEL TANKER FALLS AT LEKKI EPE EXPRESSWAY

A day after a diesel tanker rammed into a house at Idimu bus stop, at iyana paja Lagos state. Another tanker fell in Lagos early on Sunday morning, June 7 along Lekki-Epe expressway. As at the time of this report was compiled, it wasn't stated if their was any lost of life and property.

FEMALE SUICIDE BOMBER DETONATE BOMB IN BORNU

A female suicide bomber, and two other person were reportedly confirmed dead, by the Nigeria Police Force in Borno. The Bomb blast, occurred , on Sunday morning,7th June,  along Baga/Monguno highway.

Bornu state Commissioner of Police Aderemi Opadokun, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that only four persons were also injured in the explosion.

“A female suicide bomber detonated an Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) strapped on her body  killing herself and two others on Saturday.

“Four persons sustained injuries during the attack,’’ the commissioner in his word said.

Mr Aderemi also said that“It is true that we had a suspected IED explosion at Tungushe village in Konduga LGA on Saturday near a military check point.

“Two persons were injured and they are now being treated at the hospital,’’.

35 HOUSE RAZED BY FIRE AS TANKER RAMS INTO HOME

Barely 4 days after a fire incident which was caused by a petrol tanker occurred in the Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos state.

Close to 35 houses were razed by fire at the  early hours of today after a tanker which was fully loaded with Diesel lost control as a result of break failure at Idimu bus stop in Lagos. The Diesel tanker, rammed into some houses which was close to the bus stop and it thereafter exploded.
Thanks be to God almighty as their was no life lost in the tragic occurrence.

COUPLES DEPORTED BACK TO U.K FROM TURKEY FOR STRIPING AFTER GETTING DRUNK

A Polish Couple, Mr Marcin Flakiewicz and his wife Jolanta who came, all the way from the United Kingdom, to southwest resort of Marmaris in Turkey; for holiday has been deported back to the UK.

It all started when Mrs Jolanta  stripped herself naked and moved round the  pool at the southwest resort in the presence of other guest while her drunken husband went back into the hotel room.

The hotel staff woke up the Mr Marcin Flakiewicz  after staffs at the Hotel staff were unable to persuade the woman from putting back on her clothes.

But to the surprise of the hotel staff, the Mr Flakiewicz went on rampage, which left the hotel management no other choice, than to call on the police, who escorted the couple to their station.

Mr Flakiewicz had earlier injured  two police officer, which gave the police no other choice, than to use canister gas on him, before he  was their after arrested and was taken to the station, by the police.

On getting to the police station, dailymail report that the drunken husband smashed two monitors and a fax machine at the station, while it was also reported that his wife urinated in the observation room.

A judge in the Mediterranean resort town decided to deport the couple back to the UK, and thereby banned them from returning to Turkey for the next five years.

3 MILLION NAIRA STOLEN BY UNKNOWN ROBBERS IN LAGOS

The sum of 3million naira  which was meant to pay up the allowances of about 40ad-hoc staffs who are working as mediation officers for the ministry of Justice, as been carted away by some unknown armed robbers.

Vanguard learnt that the fund which was carted away, was brought into the office at the Secretariat in Alausa, (IKEJA) on Thursday at the close of work.

The robbery incidence, was discovered at about 9:00 am by a staff who raised an alarm, after the robber broke through the celling of the ministry  of Accounting Department at the early hours of Friday.

Sources said that about 20 civil servants attached to the department have been detained by the Alausa Police Station for investigation and security officers.

Ex military governor of Lagos state Mohammed Buba Marwa as left the Peoples Democratic Party of Nigeria

According to Punch reports, The statement was made through the ex governor spokesman, Bello Zubairu, on Monday. Mr Bello said Marwa decided to leave the party
“on personal grounds".
The spokesman also added that

“Marwa appealed to his numerous supporters and well-wishers who have been calling him for direction from across the country to await his next move,”

It wasn't disclosed, if he would be joining the All Peoples Congress (APC).

CROSS RIVERS STATE GOVERNOR LOCKS OUT LATE COMERS

The newly inaugurated governor of cross rivers state Prof Ben Ayade yesterday 1st of june locked out staffs of the cross rivers state government house, for coming late to work.

PUNCH  reported, that the governor  arrived at the state complex at around 7:45am and directed Mrs. Mary-Theresa Ikwen, who is the Head of Service, to lock all the gate leading to government house, at exactly 8:10am. Prof Ben who on his first day in office, gave this order when he discovered that the complex was almost empty.

The governor therefore said, “If heads of MDAs could report to work as early as 8am, I see no reason why their subordinates should not be in their respective offices on or before that time. For those who are late today, we will pardon them but from tomorrow, all latecomers will be locked outside and sanctioned accordingly.”

UNKNOWN GUNMEN MURDERS PDP YOUTH LEADER

Prince Ternenge Gbuuga, who is the PDP youth leader in ushongo LGA, in Benue state, was murder in the early hours of today, at his residence in Lessel. Though their was no official statement, by the Nigeria police as at the time these report was complied.

The present  Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom has their  declared amnesty on the  illegal possession arms in the state. The state governor their by urged them to look for another legitimate means of livelihood.

EFCC ARREST 6 CBN WORKERS AND 16 OTHERS FOR #8 BILLION SCAM

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, has arrested 6 Senior staffs of the Central Bank of Nigeria, alongside 16 bankers from other commercial banks for a #8 billion naira scam.

According to reports from vanguard, the suspect whose names are Patience Okoro Eye (Abuja), Afolabi Olufemi (Lagos), Kolawole Babalola (Ibadan), Olaniran Muniru Adeola (Ibadan), Fatai Yusuf, Adekunle (Head, Security, CBN (Ibadan) and Ilori Adekunle Sunday (Akure).  Were alleged of "stealing and putting into circulation defaced and mutilated Nigerian currency notes to the tune of N8 billion meant for destruction".
Their trial is scheduled to hold on Thursday 4th of June 2015.

Foluke Dramola who is married to Kayode Salako, launched a foundation called Passion Against Rape in Africa due to the fact that she was once a rape victim,  as said.

“I have always told my wife something which I believe is the reality of life. I did not meet my wife as a virgin and when you did not meet her as a virgin, you cannot expect to be the one to deflower her. I am a liberally inclined person who is very realistic. My orientation is western inclined, so things like that do not bother me. Either she is a rape victim or not, what I am going to say is that 'I did not meet her as a virgin".
“The painful aspect and what hurts me the most about the situation is that she was introduced to sex against her own wish. That is one of the things I really hate about the experience. That she is a rape victim does not bother me at all. I am glad it did not cost her life. It bothered her psychologically for a while in life but I did not meet her in such a situation. She had overcome the ordeal before we met and the two of us have been living together in harmony. You would not even know that she is a rape victim if she did not tell you. I am a liberally inclined person and I don’t attach meanings to things the way a typical African man would. That is why my wife and I have been enjoying ourselves,” Her husband said

“I want to be the voice of the voiceless and Punch is the reason I have a platform like this because it was the first paper to share my experience with the world. After the interview I had with Punch about my rape experience, a lot of people began to call me to ask me what I was thinking to grant such an interview. It was after the interview that the idea of Passion Against Rape in Africa came to me. That was about two years ago. I decided to be the voice of the voiceless because I know a lot of people do not have the courage to come out and talk about their experiences. I want to be the voice of rape victims all over Africa. That is the aim of my foundation. I feel that as a celebrity who has gone through that ordeal, victims of rape would find it easy to relate with me,” she said.

NIGERIA ACTOR PETER BUNOR FINALLY LAID TO REST

The remains of Nigeria actor Peter Bunor (60 year old) who died on the 1st of May 2015, will be finally laid to rest today 30th of May at his home town, Ogwash-Uku in Delta State . Peter died earlier this month, after  suffering “complications from the series of strokes he suffered over the past five years" ( said by Peter's son in a Facebook chat with Punch).
